On April 13, 2018, worldwide Muslims celebrate Lailat al-Miraj, also known as The Prophet’s Ascension. Due to the Gregorian solar(sun) calendar, the date changes each year compared to the Islamic lunar(moon) calendar, according to which the journey takes place on the night of the 27th of Rajab. This journey is one of the wonders of Muhammad, which was a gift from Allah. Allah wanted to show prophet Muhammad some signs to show his power in the universe. Allah led Muhammad in one night from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven and back.

By sharing the food with the poor and needy for the sake of Allah, Poor people are also included in the celebrations. On this day every Muslim pray and ask forgiveness from Allah, and to praise him and the Prophet Muhammad. In some Muslim countries, it is common that employees get the day after these celebrations off, which gives them the opportunity to relax after a day of prayer and worship, as those events last until late into the night.
